When to travel to Luxembourg: weather and seasonsThe Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, located in Western Europe between France and Germany, enjoys a temperate climate without extremes. Luxembourg has a modified continental with mild winters and cool summers, characterised by mild temperatures and high precipitation. The warmest months are from May to September. The north is slightly colder and more humid than the south and snow is likely during winter months. Rainfall is higher in the extreme southwest; precipitation throughout the country averages about 75cm (30in) annually. All of this makes the Luxembourg climate a soothing and a pleasant one. The mean temperatures in Luxembourg city range from 0.7°C (33°F) in January to 17°C (63°F) in July, with highs of 28°C (82°F) in August. The sheltered valley of the Moselle River benefits from a gentler and sunnier climate than does the rest of the Duchy. In hot dry weather the forests are refreshingly cool; but in winter can be cold and muddy. Climate in LuxembourgFahrenheit and centigrade, inches and millimetres, average values.
