Paris: Cafes and Restaurants ListingsThere are so many restaurants in Paris that directories listing them often seem a little overwhelming. Eating and drinking is really important to Parisians, fine dining is an accepted - indeed required - pastime, but frankly, I have not been overimpressed with many second tier and basic eating places, which seem to have menus stuck in the '50's and overcooked, sauce-soaked, muddy-flavoured offerings. Having said that, there are plenty of excellent establishments well worth patronising, although traditional French cuisine, as you would expect, still appears to be more popular than elsewhere in the world. As most dining places require booking ahead, it's obviously worthwhile doing a bit of research beforehand to try and avoid the duds! Paris Restaurant Directory links:Time Out Paris RestaurantsThe eating and drinking sections of Time Out Guides have always been one of their strong points, and as you might expect from a UK based organisation, their Paris Restaurant section on their website is well worth exploring. Below we give you links to the various districts. Restaurants are presented by area, then alphabetically. The average price given is for a standard main course à la carte.
