Getting around Paris by Segway electric scooter
Paris Segway ToursIf you've heard about Segway scooters, you know you've always wanted to try one out! Segways are amazing computer-controlled, self-balancing electric scooters with two wheels side-by-side (you stand on a platform in between). To move forward, backward or turn you simply lean ever so slightly in the direction you want to go: that's all there is to it! The Segways travel along the pavements (sidewalks) and have sort of the same status as electric wheelchairs (no-one has really quite worked out what kind of vehicle they are!). Paris Segway Tours offers a morning (9:30 am), afternoon (2 pm March-November) and a night tour (6:30 pm April-October) on their machines, with groups limited to eight people with a guide. The tours last around 3 hours. The tours start from the South Leg ("Pilier Sud") of the Eiffel Tower. Each tour begins with a 30 minute "orientation session". The Segway is appropriate for virtually anyone aged 12 and older.
