New Eurostar terminal at St. Pancras, London

The historic St. Pancras station, on Euston Road is now home to the new and swish Eurostar terminal, just across from King’s Cross.  This new Eurostar terminal now cuts travel time to Paris to 2 hours and 15 minutes.  Previously passengers had to use Waterloo station.

Besides reducing travel time to Paris, the building of the St. Pancras station has other flow on effects.   The area has undergone some gentrification with new boutiques, cafes and restaurants sprouting up.  Gourmet foot is now part of the new offering and with the better quality in turn attracting more middle-class diners to the area.  A farmer’s market will be opening soon and this marks the latest installment of continuing neighborhood improvements.

You can buy a one-way London to Paris Nord non-flexible ticket for as little as GBP44.00, which makes this a very serious alternative to flying.  Furthermore, the Eurostar also takes you right into the heart of Paris, avoiding the need for airport transfers and all the hassles of fighting your way out the airport process.
