A European Tour with a Difference

The high petrol price, weak dollar and slowing economy must be causing some Americans to think twice as to whether they can afford a European holiday this year.  The strong U.S. dollar has for a long time served Americans well when they’ve travelled to Europe in the past. This is no longer the case in recent times but rather than discarding thoughts of a European trip altogether, maybe now’s the time to consider cheaper tour options.

Most European cities, like Rome for instance, have a ‘centro historico’ or historic center that is jam-packed with interesting monuments and historical buildings that have free access.  A walking tour of these cities is the best method to see the place and get a good grounding.  If you don’t fancy carting around a big guide book and peering into street maps at every intersection, a guided walking tour might be the solution.  A German based company has such a walking tour and what’s unique about their concept is that you don’t have to pay anything if you’re not happy with the tour, or you could tip a lot if you’re pleased with the performance of your guide.
