Dinner at the Seasons Restaurant, Hilton Hotel – Sofia, Bulgaria
We dined at the Seasons Restaurant as it was the most convenient thing to do after a long day’s journey. Athough we couldn’t quite remember the restaurant layout, I was pretty sure we were here last year as the restaurant manager very kindly gave us a bottle of red and I still have the Hilton Sofia, carry bag at home. Tony was very keen to learn about Bulgarian wines and our waiter at the time was so obliging and spent a lot of time showing us the various wines.
Rossen, our maitre’d tonight was a extremely professional young man with a very pleasant smile and disposition. It was enjoyable watching Rossen work as he never missed a beat and was always aware of when a diner needed attention.
As Rossen was looking after us and chatting, another waiter hovered around and then he finally plucked up courage to say that he remembers us from last year. It was at this point that we recognized Nicholay who made our dinner experience such a great one last year. We were amazed that he remembers us when thousands of people go through the restaurant each year. We obviously made an impression on him. So these two very nice guys fussed over us, making sure all our dining needs were taken care of … and more. Rossen insisted that we try all his favourite Bulgaria desserts, although we were very full already, and Nicholay brought out a small wooden box with gourmet chocolates to have with our coffee.
So if any of you are intending on visiting Sofia and dining at the Hilton Seasons Restaurant, be sure to look out for Rossen and Nicholay, two really great guys who take service to a level of professionalism that make you feel special after a long day’s adventure.
