Christmas in Europe – Rome

Our program this morning was a visit to St. Peters and our guide, Salvatore, apart from being excellent, was very charming too.  Naturally, he got a bigger tip from me. 

After the tour, we headed off on our own and it was time to get our shopping fix at our usual discount shopping haunts.  We were lucky this time and got some good buys, including a very nice casual jacket for Tony.  I got myself a Prada padded sports jacket and wore that throughout the whole trip as it kept me warm.  By 5:30 pm, apart from being loaded with shopping bags, we were forced to stop as we had to get back for dinner. 

Our dinner tonight was at a restaurant called Papa Rex in the vicinity of the Vatican.  It was one of those huge places that catered for groups and the meals were bland and the quality of entertainment was .. well uhm?  Just as well we had a good meal at the Carbonara last night.
