Venice to Rome – Christmas in Europe
This morning we bade farewell to Venetia as we took one more ride on the Grand Canal to Maestre. We boarded our coach at 9.00 a.m. however road closures along the way caused huge delays and we finally got into Eternal City at 6 p.m. It was a relief when we finally reached the outskirts of town and familiar landmarks came into view. Our hotel this evening was the Ateneo Garden Palace which describes itself as ‘centrally located between the University La Sapienza and the Termini station’. In reality, it was quite a long walk to Termini along poorly lit streets. Given a choice, we would not choose this location again as it was not convenient, transport-wise, to get into the centro historico.
