Cabin Bag Rule Change at U.K. airports
The U.K. government has announced changes in its cabin bag restrictions at seven U.K. airports. From 7 January 2008, passengers will no longer be subject to the one cabin bag restriction when checking in for flights. However, the airport authorites do warn that this is still subject to the individual airline’s cabin allowance and caution passengers to check with their airlines before flying.
The one-bag policy was one of the security measures implemented to prevent terrorist activities. As I was jamming my handbag into my carry-on bag, I did wonder at how this one-bag policy was helping to prevent terrorist acts and the airlines are now saying that it does not. Sanity prevails! Next, can we have our proper cutlery back please … since this was never consistently applied anyway!
