Edinburgh Castle was once a fortress, a royal palace, a military garrison and a state prison. Today, this iconic and majestic Edinburgh landmark is the city's most sought-after tourist attraction.
There are centuries of history to explore in the Castle and seeing the Scottish Crown and the so-called Stone of Destiny in the Royal Palace is a real treat. From the Upper Ward are great panoramic views of Edinburgh City and Edinburgh Castle is of course the venue of the world-renowned Edinburgh Tattoo.
