Home / France / Caen and the Normandy Beaches 78
Caen and Normandy Battlefields Caen is William the Conqueror’s town and in this album are photos of Caen Château, one of the largest medieval complexes in Europe and a significant reminder of Caen’s Anglo-Norman history.
The town of Caen also saw a lot of action during World War II, a war which reduced Europe to a rubble. At the Mémorial de Caen you can learn all about the Normandy invasion and how Caen found itself at the centre stage of this battle.
In the album we also visited the Normandy beaches, the site of the June 1944 Normandy Landings, Pointe du Hoc and the impressive Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial.
