Home / France / Bayeux and around 17
Bayeux is a town with many war memories. It was the first town to be liberated by the Allied Forces in the 1944 D-Day Landing. Its Musee Memorial de la Bataille de Normandie records all the events of the Battle of Normandy.
But Bayeux is more famous as the home to the Bayeux Tapestry, an 11th century tapestry that tells of William the Conqueror's invasion of England and his defeat of the English King Harold at the Battle of Hastings.
