Orlando's Column in the Square of the Loggia Orlando's Column, in the Square of the Loggia, is a popular meeting place. Orlando, nephew of Charlemagne, was adopted by the people of the city as they were so taken with his tale that they saw parallels between his struggles and their own. The Column was built by the sculptor Antonia Ragusino in 1418.
