Roskilde was the original capital of Denmark and the Museum contains displays of its very rich history.

The Museum contains five reconstructed Viking ships (circa 1000)

These were excavated from the bottom of Roskilde Fjord in 1962

Thousands of fragments were brought to shore and delicately pieced together
