Les Invalides is best known for containing the impressive tomb of Napoleon Bonaparte. It's golden dome towers above the complex of buildings in the 7th arrondissement which holds museums and monuments relating to France's military history. As its name suggests, originally it was a hospital and retirement home for war veterans.
